Who It's For

If your highlights leave a visible line at the root after a few weeks or your grow-out looks stripey, a root blend is ideal. It softens contrast and adds gentle depth for a more refined, low-maintenance result.

It suits blondes, brondes and brunettes, and is helpful for softening early greys without a solid block of colour. It is also a smart transition if you want to move from bright highlights to a more natural, expensive-looking finish.

Duration & Appointment Timing

A Root Blend takes around 45 to 60 minutes when booked on its own. When paired with foils or balayage, allow additional time so the blend and tone can be perfected.

Most clients schedule a root blend every 8 to 12 weeks to soften regrowth and refresh tone, alternating with full highlights as needed. If your hair grows quickly or you want more grey blending, 6 to 8 weeks may be better.

Aftercare & Maintenance

Wait 48 hours before washing so the colour can settle. Use sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo and a nourishing conditioner to protect tone and shine.

If you are blonde, use a purple or blue toning shampoo no more than once a week to keep brassiness in check. Always apply heat protectant and keep tools under 185°C.

Shield hair from strong sun and chlorine where possible, and rinse after swimming. Book your next root blend at 8 to 12 weeks, with a gloss or trim as needed to keep the finish polished.
